How to Get Closer to Being the Future You

The intricacies of life can be complicated and at times like walking a minefield in which you feel trapped, suffocated and with no preferred choices available to you. Know that every single time that you feel this, it is not true. Perhaps the road you wanted to take seems closed off and this brings you sadness, but trust that there is a reason why that road has been closed off to you, be it a job, a relationship, a business opportunity, etc. But there are always choices available to you even if it’s one that feels very uncomfortable to take.

It’s not that there is some god out there orchestrating what is happening in your life. You are actually the one who is creating it all with your thoughts, feelings and actions. Taking responsibility for what you have created in your life can be painful, especially when you feel like you haven’t done well and are criticizing yourself for it. Well, lighten up and guess what?! You need to forgive yourself and promise to do better today, in this very moment. As they say in weight loss programs, every ounce counts and it is the ounces which add up to pounds which add up to the desired weight loss. So it is in life. Each moment that you do better, each moment where you make better choices, perform improved actions and have higher vibrational feelings are significant. Each of these little moments will add up with each other and become bigger and better and these little improved moments, decisions and feelings are the stepping stones to a life that pleases you more.

It’s not about sitting and thinking about the future and pining for it to finally be. It’s about already trying to be the person you envision yourself to be in the future in this very moment. Every small attempt toward being that person or having that life you envision is one step closer to actually being and having them. As long as you feel that what you want and how you want to be is somehow in the future, it will never be and it will never actualize in your life. So bring the future into your life now by taking baby steps toward it. Don’t be afraid, there are so many of us with you and cheering you on!

Here is a simple example from my own life. I always imagined myself to be a person who had a daily skincare regimen that I love and a wardrobe with various amazing outfits that I can choose form for any occasion. I’d just fling my closet doors open and there they would be. But up until now I have had neither. Why have I had neither ever? Because I never really took the time or took any steps toward it. As far as a perfect skincare routine, I never actually tried out a few products in an attempt see which ones I like and could truly commit myself to buying for a long period of time, much less actually loving it. I just bought skin care products spontaneously or maybe what was on sale. Then I wouldn’t buy it again even if I had liked it. At times I would have toner and an exfoliator but then months would go by where I hadn’t had those or considered them important. So a skin care line that I used daily and faithfully never appeared since I had never been truly serious about finding it. Not until I told myself, this is our project. We WILL find the skin care regime that we deserve and that we love. The one that makes our skin glow and smells heavenly! The point is that as soon as I made the commitment to do this, I found and actually do the skin care routine that I’ve been fantasizing about for years. My wardrobe and closet are still a work in progress though.

Another example is that I’ve always loved to write and wanted to become a writer. But did I make a daily or even weekly block of time to actually sit down and write? No, I did not. If I had pursued my passion of writing years ago, I would be so much further along now. But I’m not letting that hinder me today. Because today, I sat down and I wrote something. I took a small step toward my goals and I’m proud of myself for that.

What small step will you take for yourself today? After you take it, don’t forget to smile and let yourself feel proud!

How To Find Your True Path In Life

It is always an inspiration to do more when one is given recognition for their efforts. In a lot of cases, people don’t receive positive feedback or recognition for things that mean a lot to them and that they are passionate about. But this shouldn’t stop you from expressing yourself and following the path that excites you. Some people wonder what their path is and don’t know what to do. The pursuit of the path that you should be on is more simple than you might think. Simply engage with anything and everything that captures your interest, no matter what it is. Immerse yourself in it and feel the nice emotions that it creates within you. Perhaps you won’t be ready to express your passion or interest out into the world right away and this is definitely very common and absolutely ok! Sit with it and work with it until you are ready to share. There really isn’t any rush at all. Don’t let fear keep you from expressing yourself.

Another thing we would like you to keep in mind is that your path, meaning your passions and interests, may change over the course of your lifetime. Just because you were interested in one thing at some point in your life doesn’t mean you need to stick with it for the remainder of your lifetime. If you continue to be happy about it for your whole life, then by all means continue to do so and no change is needed. But don’t stop yourself from pursuing something new and different, simply because you feel or others are making you feel that it is your duty to do so. Your only duty is to yourself and to remain true to yourself. What do we mean by this? Remaining true to yourself is living in your truth. Living in your truth is living your life and expressing yourself in a way that brings you happiness!

Many will stumble upon judgment from others about what they want to do and how they want to express themselves. Some people around you and close to you might have a lot to say about the pursuit of your dreams becoming reality and discourage you from it, citing that it is impossible and that you’ll just be wasting your time. Remember that this life you are living is for you and you only. They have their own lives to live so you shouldn’t sacrifice your life in order to please them. Otherwise you risk a lifetime wasted and full of regret. Don’t create this future for yourself where you lay in your deathbed and look back on what you should have done, on how you should have been brave enough and believed in yourself enough. This is a very sad story indeed.

Here is a simple technique to help you to discover what interests you and what you are passionate about if you aren’t aware of it yet. Go into a bookstore or an online bookstore. Don’t worry, this exercise doesn’t involve you having to actually read any books unless that is something that you like to do. Look at the different categories in the bookstore. Music, Technology, Philosophy, Travel, Self Help, Meditation, Biographies, Mystery, etc. After you find a few categories that you feel might interest you, look at them and choose the one that interests you the absolute most. Ponder what it is that interests you about this subject. Perhaps it is art! In this case, you might want to pursue expressing yourself in an artistic way such as drawing, painting, writing stories or poetry, sculpture, making jewelry, etc. Looking at these categories can help give you clues as to what it is you like.

We know that many will just now be thinking: “Well, how will I pursue my passion and interests when I have to work for a living?” This is a very valid question and we have the answer for you! All you need to do is etch out some time in your schedule to pursue this interest. You do not have to quit your job or subtract time from paying attention to your family or friends. Consider it to be a special time where you are doing something for you and only you. If your days are especially hectic and filled, get up a half an hour or an hour earlier where everything is still quiet and give yourself this special time. The more you pursue your interest, the more clues and opportunities will appear from the universe to encourage you and help you to succeed at your goals. Don’t sit around thinking: “Oh well, I tried this for a whole month and nothing is happening!” Trust that it will come and don’t even think about it. Immerse yourself in what you are doing and experience the pure joy that it gives you. This pure feeling of joy and magic is what will bring about the signs from the universe that you are on your true path. The more you spend time in this magical zone, the more you will feel freer and happier. In time, your passion may actually become your profession as it has for many. If it can happen for them, then it can happen for you too because you are all worthy and loved!

If you are feeling committed to finding your own path, don’t spend most of your time watching TV or on social media. These are external pursuits that will not bring your dreams any closer to you. If you like being on the internet to do research and read about your passions and interests, we consider this to be a constructive tool to use. But make sure to take time to also take a walk and breathe in some fresh air or do some exercise, just to give your brain a break from that kind of stimulation. Human brains and all brains need time to wind down so if you are having trouble relaxing or falling asleep, your online screen time may be the culprit. We will expand on this subject in another post in the future. For now, we wish you all the best in pursuing your dreams and expressing yourself. The whole universe is waiting to see the brilliance of who you are and know that we are cheering you on every step of the way.
